Tumeric

A root and member of the ginger family, turmeric has a similar shape and consistency to ginger. Tumeric is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for its beautifying properties and is renowned as nature’s internal cosmetic.

Tumeric has the following properties:

1. Anti-oxidant properties.
2. Tumeric is a first class blood purifier. It stimulates the liver, increases red blood cell formation, inhibits red blood cell clumping and increases circulation. This allows wounds to heal faster and exhausted tissues to rejuvenate. Clean blood corrects both excesses and deficiencies in metabolism and increases one’s energy.
3. Tumeric makes the skin soft, supple and smooth. Beautiful skin results from pure blood. Because turmeric helps to purify the blood, it helps to counteract pimples, acne, boils and similar skin imbalances. Tumeric brings colour into pale skin.

Fresh turmeric root should resemble ginger, only smaller, orange, and more profusely branching. Tumeric powder is bright yellow and has a slightly spicy taste when unadulterated.
