Everything in life is cyclic. Each morning when we wake up, we awake to embrace our physical reality. At night, when we enter a state of deep, dreamless sleep, when our minds and bodies are completely still, we embrace our spiritual self. We are renewed during our sleep. This is why sleep is so necessary for our wellbeing.
This is why infants and young children sleep as much as they do. All this sleep assists them to mature, grow and learn at the astonishing speed at which they do. Look at the perfection of babies – look at the beauty, the love, the joy, the deep wisdom that radiates from them.
Sleep is very nurturing. We can choose how we think about sleep, how we give thanks for it and how much time we allow for it.
